There is a kind of really destructive and depleting frustration that we can get into with technology and for this reason lots of people avoid it. I am fascinated by the kind of reactions that people have when they work with their websites and computers. What I have come to realise is that it is ALWAYS a mirror of what is going on in their lives.
Some of the common issues that get mirrored are: fear of exposure, fear of being seen as a fraud, fear of not being good enough, fear of failure, fear of success, not feeling able to make decisions, looking around at what everyone else is doing and trying to copy, not knowing how to articulate the offer, lack of confidence, intolerance and impatience, and perfectionism.
What I love is working with people through these issues and watching it all come together. I love the moment that they stand in their power and let their true light and being shine through. I love the moment when they really get that it is ok to be completely authentic and what they love doing is what they are meant to be doing. In that moment, magic happens and business booms and extreme transformation happens.
Perfectionism of one kind or another can really kill the energy dead. The trick is to do what you can first, park the things that you are not happy with and come back to them. Get things to a stage of being OK and take a breather and then go back and perfect. Don’t judge the process and allow it to evolve. A website is always a work in progress. There is always another learning curve and technology will always move way faster than you or I.
Whatever issues we are working on in our outside life will be reflected in what is happening with the website. 100%.
Journal your frustrations and questions and then look at them metaphorically. See how they apply and then work on metaphorical solutions. You will be amazed at what shifts. Send your inner critic on holiday and just be loving and gentle and allow the creativity to flow through.
Websites are microcosms, which is why I have come to love this work. They are the way we present ourselves to the world and as such are as infinite as any other part of our being.
They carry our energy: hopes, fears, frustrations, excitement and dreams. The gift is to step outside of it, look back on to it and watch your relationship with it and work with that. Watch how you interact. listen to your voice, feel what it brings up and work out where you need to put things.
